Melior joins new SPOCK Program
Columbia, Maryland, and Dallas, Texas, January 10, 2006 --- Melior, Inc. joins the new SPOCK Forum.
Having been a full member and contributor of the previous SPOCK program, Melior, Inc. announces joining the new SPOCK program, a distinguished security consortium where users, US government agencies, and technology providers have the opportunity to share information on security compliance topics.
"We are glad to see this valuable forum continued in a new instance", says Thomas J. Ackermann, Melior's CEO, "and we will make every effort to contribute. Especially with the recent focus on Multiple Independent Levels of Safety/Security (MILS) architectures, and using standard network security (COTS = commercial-off-the-shelf) components in favor of special-purpose devices, we believe the support for SPOCK, the MILS Initiative, and other such programs is critical for security improvements and reliability of the infrastructure we are protecting together. Information exchange on topics such as compliance, deployment, and cost-of-ownership can best be accomplished in such forums."
(The MILS initiative is a joint effort among the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate, NSA, OSD’s Open Systems Joint Task Force, COTS software suppliers, academia such as the University of Idaho, and defense contractors including Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Rockwell Collins, and Northrop Grumman among others).
Melior Inc. CyberWarfare Defense ('melior' is Latin and means 'better') is a privately held US company, developing new network and application security technology with an initial focus to defend against Penetration Testing and distributed Denial-of-Service (dDoS) attacks, and subsequently applying this technology to the defense against Spam (UCE) and Virii/Trojans/Worms, essentially providing a new security layer: CyberWarfare Defense.
Melior, Inc. contributes actively in anti-Crime and anti-Terrorism efforts with Goverment agencies in the United States, in the European Union, and NATO member countries.
