German BKA assigns case number and delegates Melior's criminal complaint to state authorities
Dallas, Texas, August 23, 2006 --- The federal German Bundeskriminalamt (BKA, equivalent to the US federal FBI office) assigned a case number ("Aktenzeichen") to Melior's criminal complaint and delegated further investigations to the proper German state authorities in the states of Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg.
On August 18, 2006, the BKA assigned case number SO31-201 - VG2006-0000362790 to Melior's criminal complaint. The Staatsanwaltschaft in Frankfurt previously assigned its case number on August 9, 2006.
Under German law, the federal-level BKA does not perform initial investigations for fraud cases, but reviews cases involving state authorities and cases involving criminal activities spanning across multiple German states for delegation to the proper state authorities. The Landeskriminalaemter (equivalent to state-level FBI offices in the US) in the German states of Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg, where the multitude of the accused perpetrators reside, were assigned to investigate.
"We are very pleased with the prompt response of both the Staatsanwaltschaft in Frankfurt and the Bundeskriminalamt in Wiesbaden, Germany" says Mr. Thomas J. Ackermann, Melior's CEO.
"With concurrent investigations by the prosecution side (Staatsanwaltschaft) in the German state of Hessen, and the Landeskriminalaemter (LKAs) in Baden-Wuerttemberg and Bavaria, along with the support by the FBI in Dallas and the multitude of evidence the company contributes to this investigation, we are confident justice will be served: for both Melior, Inc. as well as for the stakeholders of GNU Linux Intellectual Property rights, and the German tax payers defrauded in this case."
Melior Inc. CyberWarfare Defense ('melior' is Latin and means 'better') is a privately held US company, developing new network and application security technology with an initial focus to defend against Penetration Testing and distributed Denial-of-Service (dDoS) attacks, and subsequently applying this technology to the defense against Spam (UCE) and Virii/Trojans/Worms, essentially providing a new security layer: CyberWarfare Defense.
Melior, Inc. contributes actively in anti-Crime and anti-Terrorism efforts with Goverment agencies in the United States, in the European Union, and NATO member countries.
